Although the ecological log made of biomass has a higher energy density than a conventional log, we should not conclude that it has only qualities. At least that’s what Laure Patouillard, from the International Reference Centre for the Life Cycle of Products, Processes and Services, points out. She explains that such a log, like a normal log, releases pollutants such as carbon monoxide, fine particles and volatile organic compounds. Rules must also be followed (quantity of biomass, type of combustion device, speed of fire) to ensure that the ecological log fulfills its mission.
