Anne-Marie Boulay is a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal. She is the Executive Director of CIRAIG and Director of CIRAIG’s International Consortium for Research on Life Cycle Assessment and Sustainable Transition.

Her research focuses mainely on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and the development of life cycle impact assessment models. Her expertise lies in the environmental impacts associated with water use and water footprint (lead author of the AWARE methodology), and with plastics, including agri-food systems, and their impacts on the environment and human health. She holds Tier II Canada Research Chair funded by NSERC and she serves as chair of the MarILCA (Marine Impacts in LCA) working group. She is a member of several organizations, including CIRODD, CREPEC, the Plastic Footprint Network Scientific Committee, and the INAF Observatory.

Her work has led to over 60 publications and over 6300 citations (as of December 2025). Her expertise is recognized by several awards: the ACLCA Leadership Award in September 2023, the Journal of Industrial Ecology Best Paper Award in November 2023, and her selection as a Canadian finalist for the Frontiers Global Prize in November 2023.
