Research project - Assessing the environmental impacts of deployment scenarios for electric vehicle charging facilities in Montreal using LCA

CIRAIG is looking for a master’s student interested in environmental issues and mobility to assess the environmental impacts of deployment scenarios for electric vehicle charging facilities in Montreal. This internship aims to take into account charging infrastructure, which is often ignored in studies of electric mobility, and to make the link between charging facilities and the use of electric vehicles.

Research project - Which futures for transportation could respect planetary boundaries?

CIRAIG is looking for a Master’s student interested in environmental issues and mobility to carry out a project on the impact of the transportation sector in the context of planetary boundaries. The objective of this internship is to quantitatively examine the environmental performance of different carbon-neutral trajectories for the transportation sector on a global scale. This aims to identify trends to follow for evolving within the framework of planetary boundaries or returning to it, as six out of nine planetary boundaries have already been crossed.

Research project – Quantifying the Role of Greenhouse Gas Offset Credits in Achieving Carbon Neutrality

CIRAIG is looking for a Master’s student interested in environmental issues and wishing to investigate the use of offset credits. This internship aims to assess the actual global capacity for offsetting GHG emissions, both currently and in the future. It seeks to address the issues of impact transfers (burdenshifting) and rebound effects, ultimately providing recommendations on the production and use of such credits.

Posdoctoral Researcher - Social acceptability and environment

In partnership with CIRAIG, the engineering consulting firm Norda Stelo is looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a passion for the environment to join the Climate Change Team for a 2-year internship funded by Elevation, a Mitacs postdoctoral fellowship program.

The researcher’s work will be divided between their postdoctoral research project, which aims to explore the role of offsets and negative emission technologies in an organization’s transition to net zero and make recommendations, and support for Norda Stelo activities.

Postdoctoral Researcher - Sustainability of strategic metals for the energy transition

A postdoctoral position is open for research on the sustainability of critical and strategic metals (CSMs) in the energy transition toward carbon neutrality.

Postdoctoral fellowship « Sustainability & CSM »: assessing the holistic sustainability of the production scenarios of CSM for Canada, and worldwide burden-shifting

On the agenda: study the trajectories of demand for metals in Canada and around the world, develop knowledge around large-scale prospective modeling tools (Integrated Assessment Models), refine the assessment of the environmental and social impacts of extraction and consumption of strategic and critical metals.

Do you want to work towards a carbon-neutral world, by developing cutting-edge research to design a more sustainable society? Join us!

Applications of people from under-represented groups in STEM are strongly encouraged.

Spontaneous application - LCA Analyst / sustainability expert

The CIRAIG is seeking to fill 4 full-time positions of life cycle assessment analyst/senior analyst for its office located at Polytechnique Montréal campus (Canada) and at the EPFL and the HES-SO Valais Wallis Energypolis campus in Sion (Switzerland). The analyst will carry out life cycle assessment projects applied to various sectors, material and energy flow analysis and development of databases, tools and metrics applied to various industrial sectors and problematics through research projects, industrial and governmental contracts, etc. to support our partners in their sustainability efforts.
