Eleonora Crenna joined the CIRAIG team in February 2024 as an LCA analyst. Eleonora is based at HES-SO Valais-Wallis and EPFL in Sion, Switzerland, where she works on various EU and industrial projects. The focus of Eleonora’s work is on environmental life cycle assessment (LCA), especially of electrolyzers and fuel cells, and the development of integrated tools for eco-design.
Eleonora obtained her Master’s degree in Natural Science from the University of Milan, and attracted by understanding better the human-environment interaction, she finalized a PhD in Environmental Science at the University of Milano-Bicocca, in cooperation with the European Commission’s JRC and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). During her PhD, Eleonora gathered international work experience and developed models and indicators for characterizing impacts on biodiversity in Life Cycle Impact Assessment.
While keeping one foot in the biodiversity world, Eleonora moved to the energy sectors in 2019, when she started working at Empa (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology) on projects related to the environmental sustainability of Li-ion batteries. Eleonora also has experience in LCA studies about food value chain and packaging, and construction materials.
