Lou Canava holds a general engineering degree from Centrale Nantes (France), with a specialization in low-tech engineering, as well as a master’s degree in computer science from Polytechnique Montréal (Canada), obtained in 2025. Her academic and professional background has enabled her to develop expertise at the intersection of environmental issues, data analysis, and the development of digital tools.
Through her experiences at Toovalu, a company specializing in carbon accounting software, and Carbone 4, a leading climate consulting firm, she contributed to projects related to greenhouse gas emissions quantification, environmental impact assessment, and the development of decision-support tools. These experiences also fostered a strong interest in science communication and the dissemination of environmental knowledge.
She joined CIRAIG as part of her master’s project, which focused on the development of POLARIIS, a data infrastructure designed to support the production, organization, and use of environmental data. Since 2026, she has been working as an Analyst at CIRAIG, where she contributes to the development of this platform as well as to various projects related to environmental databases, life cycle assessment, science communication, and environmental outreach.
Her interests include the structuring and interoperability of environmental data, life cycle modeling approaches, data visualization, and the development of tools that support sustainability-oriented decision-making.
