Dr. Anne de Bortoli leads the research division on carbon neutrality at Polytechnique Montréal, within the CIRAIG, a center specializing in sustainability metrics and life cycle analysis. With two master’s degrees and a PhD in civil engineering and sustainable development, she is also an associate researcher at the Ville Mobilité Transport Laboratory (LVMT) of École des Ponts ParisTech in France, a member of the Canadian government’s Net-Zero Advisory Body, and has over ten years of experience in research and teaching in the field of sustainable transportation and infrastructure.

Her work draws on a wide range of sustainability quantification methods, such as life cycle assessment and economic-environmental input-output evaluations. It aims to support the transition toward a decarbonized, sustainable, and desirable society. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with the multinational corporation VINCI and served in several renowned universities (MIT, University of Patras, École des Ponts ParisTech, University of California, Berkeley, National Taiwan University).

Dr. de Bortoli has received numerous national and international awards, notably from the OECD, the World Road Association, and the VINCI Group. As a member of the Canadian mirror committee for the standardization of greenhouse gas management and climate change, she regularly contributes to the dissemination of knowledge promoting more responsible environmental behaviors.

Research interests: mobility, energy, negative emissions technologies, carbon credits, carbon neutrality, life cycle assessment, prospective evaluation, transition pathways, planetary boundaries, environmentally extended input-output evaluation.
