Enrique Medina Martos

Enrique Medina Martos holds an integrated Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Granada (Spain) and a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Bahia (Brazil). Over the past eight years he has combined process simulation with techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessment (LCA).

He began his career at the IMDEA Energy Institute in Madrid, assessing hydrothermal conversion of organic waste, carbon capture and utilisation, and battery recycling. In 2022 he joined CENER, the National Renewable Energy Centre of Spain, coordinating sustainability assessment of biofuel value chains in European and national research projects, and leading techno-economic and carbon footprinting studies for industry. He later joined Inditex as a sustainability analyst, contributing to a product-level environmental assessment tool based on the EU Product Environmental Footprint methodology.

Based at HES-SO Valais-Wallis and EPFL in Sion, Enrique now works on the environmental assessment of hydrogen technologies and on integrating life cycle and techno-economic data into energy system modelling. His methodological interests include prospective and consequential LCA, and coupling process simulation with TEA and LCA for low-TRL technologies.
