Jonas Schnidrig holds a Ph.D. in Energy System Planning from EPFL and HES-SO Valais-Wallis, where he now works as a researcher and lecturer. His work explores how energy system models can better reflect real-world sustainability challenges by integrating environmental assessment and life cycle thinking.

In 2022, during an academic exchange at Polytechnique Montréal, he joined the CIRAIG and discovered the world of sustainability metrics: a turning point that led him to connect energy modeling with environmental evaluation. Since then, he has been closely involved in the PSO-International EnergyScope project (MEIE, Énergir, and Hydro-Québec), developing an open-source version of EnergyScope for Québec.

Based in Valais, he works to bridge research, education, and practice; translating complex models into useful insights for decision-makers shaping the energy transition.
