Education & interests

Louisa Ospital holds an engineering degree in Materials and Durability from ENSIACET (France), obtained in 2021. In 2022, she joined the CIRAIG team at Polytechnique Montréal to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. Under the supervision of Professors Anne-Marie Boulay and Manuele Margni, and in collaboration with Michelin, her research focuses on modeling the potential impacts of Tire and Road Wear Particles (TRWPs), a form of microplastics generated from tire abrasion.

Her work aims to integrate these particles into Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methods by developing emission inventory, fate, and impact models. Louisa also contributes to international initiatives such as MarILCA, a UNEP Life Cycle Initiative working group, and the Plastic Footprint Network, and collaborates with researchers at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM, Netherlands).
