Training objectives
- Understand the main methodological principles of GHG quantification and the core requirements of the GHG Protocol (covering both the Corporate Standard and the Scope 3 Standard).
- Get to know the main emission sources of scopes 1,2, and 3 and understand the associated calculation methods and data needed to perform an organizational inventory, through simplified examples.

- Introduction to the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and Scope 3 Standard.
- Definition of the GHG inventory boundaries (organizational and operational boundaries).
- Key GHG emissions reporting requirements (avoided emissions, biogenic carbon, etc.).
- Calculation methods and data requirements for the main Scope 1 and 2 emission sources (covering location-based and market-based Scope 2 approaches).
- The concept of minimum boundaries for Scope 3 emissions.
- Calculation methods, data requirements and methodological guidance for the main Scope 1 and 2 emission categories (with a focus on process-based and spend-based approaches for Scope 2).
- Data quality assessment requirements.
For whom is this training?
This training is designed for anyone seeking to understand how to conduct an organizational GHG inventory.
Prerequisites: This training requires basic knowledge of climate change concepts (GHGs, emitting activities, global warming potential, etc.).
At the end of the course, the participants will know the key methodological requirements and considerations of the GHG Protocol. However, the training does not provide step-by-step practical guidance for carrying out an organizational inventory.
