Marit Salome Rognan

Marit Salome Rognan holds an M.Sc. in Energy and Environmental Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and completed her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal in 2026.

Her doctoral research focused on improving the scalability and specificity of product life cycle assessment (LCA), leading to the development of the Specific SEmiautomated Lifecycle Footprinting (SSELF) framework. Her research interests include life cycle assessment, environmental accounting, product carbon footprints, data and governance challenges in LCA, and scalable approaches for environmental decision-making.

She is currently a postdoctoral fellow within the interdisciplinary PLANET project (Plasma-Electrification of Chemical Produce – net-zero carbon emission technology for sustainable greenhouses). Her work aims to evaluate the environmental performance of plasma-based greenhouse technologies under different implementation conditions and to develop decision-making tools for identifying environmentally and economically promising applications.
